Young Jeon

Founder/Director

Young Jeon is the Founder and Director of Iron Velvet Art, a creative consultancy specializing in contemporary art advisory, artist-brand collaborations, and cultural programming.

 

Focusing on the hospitality, corporate, and real estate sectors, Iron Velvet Art designs bespoke art programs that elevate artistic expression and encourage viewer engagement. Leveraging her deep expertise in contemporary art and a strong commitment to supporting emerging Asian artists, Young bridges the gap between artists and private sector clients, fostering meaningful cultural impact and dialogue.

An active contributor to the global art community, Young Jeon is a prolific writer for Public Art Magazine and Art Chosun, with features in Art Now, Art in Culture, and Living Sense Magazine. She was awarded the AHL Foundation Curatorial Fellowship in 2019 and has previously served as a member of the Skowhegan Council. Young has also held the position of Director at Space 776 Gallery and played a significant role in the curatorial department at the Brooklyn Museum's Korean Art galleries.


Young holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Cultural Management from Pratt Institute and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Art and Design and French Literature from Korea University.

Irene Gong

Business Development Manager

Irene Gong is an independent curator based in New York and the Business Development Manager at Iron Velvet Art.


Prior to joining Iron Velvet Art, Irene gained extensive experience in the art market, having worked at Christie’s, The Armory Show, Gladstone Gallery, and other notable institutions.

Her recent curatorial projects include "Kejoo Park: Echoes in Time" (2024), "Kimin Kim: No Leaf Will Be Shaken" (2024), and "Nature & Tradition" (2021), all of which have been showcased at galleries in New York and Seoul.

She specializes in presenting solo exhibitions of emerging and mid-career Korean artists. In addition to her curatorial work, she is the Founder and Director of PPULI PROJECT, a curatorial organization dedicated to international and interdisciplinary public art projects with a focus on sustainability, operating on an annual basis.

She holds a BS in Hotel and Tourism Management from New York University and an MA in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York.

Hyunbee Shin

Project Assistant

Hyunbee Shin joined Iron Velvet in 2022 and became an essential part of the platform’s operational efforts. In her role, she oversees the preparation of IV’s projects, manages social media strategy, and plays a key role in shaping Iron Velvet’s overall aesthetic direction.


With a strong focus on contemporary art and community-driven projects, Hyunbee collaborates with emerging and established artists to bring their works to life. She has led projects that range from managing website curation and exhibition installations to creating digital content for Iron Velvet’s growing audience. Her contributions have been integral in supporting the platform’s mission to elevate Asian diaspora artists.


Hyunbee holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts and continues to contribute to the evolving future of Iron Velvet.
